Happy Memories That Are Precious And Have a Story To Tell
That time of the year has arrived and with spring just around the corner that can only mean one thing – it’s tidy up time.
A few days ago the sun was shining and lovely as it was, unfortunately this made our house show up all the layers of dust that had accumulated over the winter months. Therefore I decided spring had sprung early and it was time to start cleaning.
It all started off well and I had really good intentions of cleaning from top to toe. First on my list was the kitchen, which actually took a little longer than I thought it would, so already I was fading fast. However I persevered and next on the list was clearing out the Utility room. In our house this is one of those rooms where everything gets dumped and the door gets shut. I hadn’t been working long when I stumbled across a load of cheap books that my mum had given to me. This set me off on a lovely trip down memory lane and that was the end of my cleaning for the day.
Mum was a real fan of her books and was always happiest when she had a book in her hand. She didn’t really mind what she read it could be anything ranging from fiction books, romance books and she even owned a few cook books. I’m not sure why she had the cook books, because she never really seemed to be adventurous with her cooking. Perhaps she just enjoyed looking at all the pictures!
It’s funny because I suddenly remembered a holiday we had all gone on together to Lanzarote. In my cases I had packed all the usual holiday necessities, sun tan lotion, swimming costumes and beach towels. When mum unpacked her case I was amazed as it was full of books. Without a lie I think she had about 10 with her. I thought this was hilarious as we were only staying there for 2 weeks. Saying all that though, she definitely had the last laugh as whilst she was sunbathing and enjoying reading her books, she got the most fantastic suntan.
The spring cleaning didn’t really go the way I had planned, but then you know what it can be like sometimes when you get distracted and when cleaning is involved, I can’t say that I really mind.
