Westboro Baptist Church Offends Ozzy By Using Crazy Train
Westboro Baptist Church isn’t really making any friends these days. According to E! Online, they can also count Ozzy Osbourne among their enemies. In a demonstration outside the United States Supreme Court, members of the Kansas-based church co-opted the famous Ozzy Osbourne metal tune “Crazy Train” to express their message of intolerance. Ozzy Osbourne caught wind of this, and also the Prince of Darkness is not happy.
‘Disgusted’ Ozzy that ‘hate and evil’ had been promoted with his song
“Crazy Train” had been used by the Westboro Baptist Church. Ozzy Osbourne seems to be “sickened” and “disgusted” by this. Ozzy’s first single as a solo artist was this song which came out in 1980 as part of the “Blizzard of Ozz” album. The 1987 album “tribute” also integrated a live version of the song. “Crazy Train” is love by many. It is considered a classic of rock and heavy metal still. Co-writer Randy Rhoads’ famous guitar riff is stock and trade for anybody who aspires to play electric guitar. The music isn’t something Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church should be using. They want to condemn those they call sinners when not appreciating the true value within the song.
Westboro Baptists protest war, homosexuality
Peaceful protests are often very effective in The US against the nation’s commitment in foreign wars. Westboro Baptist Church, nevertheless, does the opposite of that challenging freedom of speech with hate speeches. Their Supreme Court protest involved the death of a U.S. Marine in Iraq. The Westboro Baptist Church is being sued by the soldier’s father for invasion of privacy and emotional distress. This is because they protested by putting up gay bashing slogans, although the soldier wasn’t gay, and saying the soldier had been “going straight to hell on (a) crazy train.”
‘Crazy Train’ not known by Westboro
It is typically advisable to know the lyrics to a song if you are going to use it as a theme song for organization. The protest featured “Crazy Train” in it. Of course, Ozzy Osbourne never had been asked for permission from the Westboro Baptist Church to have the song used. Even if it might make them the target of one more lawsuit. But obviously they didn’t read the “Blizzard of Ozz” liner notes. “Crazy Train” says in the first verse, “maybe it’s not too late… to learn how to love… and forget how to hate.” The real crazies here are the Westboro Baptist Church members.
