Designers present their menswear collections for Spring-Summer 2012 season
Menswear is well-appreciated among girls. Not simply because we obtain to look at a lot of men, wearing attires on a walkway, but also because we get to start off planning our boyfriend’s wardrobe for following season, in this way ensuring it co-ordinates with ours. SO let’s start arranging what the guys are going to be wearing for Spring-Summer 2012.
Ponder on your boyfriend’s clothing for a second: is there one single patterned item in it?
Only not counting a Breton T-shirt or check shirt. Right. Well, for Spring-Summer 2012 season menswear collection creators have gotten over their allergy to all things decorative with D&G presenting Italian scarf-style fonts on shorts and shirts, at the same time as Donatella Versace harked back to Versace fashion house’s 90s halcyon days with gallant, bright poppy designs on summer sweaters and bathing shorts. Kim Jones introduction for Louis Vuitton fashion house was peppered with burgundy and pink checkerboard, and at Burberry Prorsum Christopher Bailey introduced chunky tribal inspired motifs in dirty colours. Even Giorgio Armani, emperor of pared-down monochrome cool got in on the act with a chequerboard pullover. Without hesitation, if Armani is doing pattern, your boyfriend has no reason not to wear it.
Awful news for ladies looking for some back-up in getting their boyfriends out of eight-year old jeans: stylish is in. At McQueen, Marc Jacobs and Gucci fashion collections for Spring-Summer 2012 season the stress was on slimly tailored looks that will look wonderful when he takes you out somewhere very-very pricey.
Yellow was undeniably the blush of the jiffy last week, with a variety of tints from fisherman to mustard on display. Roberto Cavalli, habitually, went all-out with a slim-cut mustard costume, while Christopher Bailey at Burberry Prorsum kept it a little more wearable with free channel neck high jumpers and massive double breasted coatigans. Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen showcased a Jagger-eque line of slim 60s suiting together with an amazing mustard jacket.
Both Kim Jones and Alistair Carr made their menswear debut this week for Louis Vuitton and Pringle respectively, with Carr receiving admiring reviews for his reimagining of the classic Pringle knitwear. Kim Jones presented tailored looks with a hint of nautical, in navy white and grey, and over on the Vivienne Westwood catwalk, Andreas Kronthaler stepped up to take a bow with his wife at the end of the menswear show for the first time, with Vivienne.
Each few seasons, menswear collection designers, who are seemingly bored to tear with their restricted alternative for below the belt apparel, decide that this will be the season that men’s skirts really catch on for people other than Marc Jacobs and, very infrequently, Robbie Williams. For Spring-Summer 2012 menswear, Givenchy, Yohji Yamamoto and Thom Browne have decided that skirts are the item for next season. Gentlemen far and wide will, just about surely, argue.
